Rebuilding Waaheen Market: Challenges and Opportunities – Inclusive Research by APD

The Academy for Peace and Development, a local think-tank, has released a policy paper titled “Rebuilding Waheen Market in Hargeisa: Challenges and Opportunities”, featuring inclusive research about the aftermath of the incident.

In its introduction to its policy paper, APD research covers the causes, the extent of the damage, lessons learned, and policy implications of the Waaheen Market fire.

However, it is critical to highlight that APD findings highlighted that Somaliland’s national preparedness agency is not included in the formation of the National Response and Relief committee named by the president a day after the disaster.
