Somaliland: Long Serving Police Commissioner Passes away

The late Police Commissioner, Major-General Abdillahi Fadal Iman,  had spent his entire career in the service. From a junior officer at the time of the reclamation of sovereignty in 1991, Major-General Abdillahi Fadal worked towards improving the Somaliland Police Service from one solitary functioning station to today’s professional trained and paid service.
During his tenure as Police Commissioner, Major-General Abdillahi Fadal help to recruit more educated Somalilanders into the force, strengthened the training of the officers, the various branches of the service, the logistics of the force, the facilities, including a brand new headquarters in Hargeisa, and new divisional, local and medical facilities in, Burco, Borama, Berbera, Las Anod, Erigavo, and many other towns and villages across the country.
During his tenure, the Police training academy in Mandhera was refurbished and equipped with new training facilities, including a replica court, police station, classrooms, dormitories and recreational areas.
The late Police Commissioner, Major-General, Abdillahi Fadal Iman, crisscrossed the country checking on the welfare of his officers and their families, as well as, the ordinary Somalilanders going through judiciary process, and making sure the work of keeping the law and order in the country was being maintained.
The Police Commissioner passed away after a brief illness and was buried in Hargeisa on Saturday.
